The Best of Both Worlds

Infamously known for being at the top and active member of the “Geeks”, Ryan Faulkner Braun grew up in Seattle, Washington as a total computer and video game craver. His mother is an abstract artist and sculpturist while his dad is an electrical engineering mastermind. The special chocolate powder and milk cream from his parents sprinkled with the light marshmallows of the geeks created the mix of the perfect hot chocolate during winter times.

Since the age of eight, Ryan, now 18, has been able to take apart, fix, put back together, or simply build his own computers as a natural hobby. Even up to this very day, he has been collecting comic books, Godzilla action figures and star wars collectibles beginning during the toddler era. “He seems to really like Godzilla a lot,” commented by Ryan’s roommate Chris Clouser. Being an only child all of his life, the fantasy world allowed him to put his mind to its fullest potential creating a sense of utopia.

Heading into the years of middle school and shooting straight to high school, Ryan was well-known for being one of top dogs of the geeks in the local area. The band of geeks formed and they did what most geeks do; debate, attend conventions, attend expos, and play all the video games around. Close friends say that he was always the mastermind working behind the scenes keeping the team together and leading them to victory. “He led us to the semi-finals of the Penny Arcade Expo for the Halo 2 tourney at PAX two years in a row,” his close friends and teammates said.

In terms of actually school participation, Ryan signed up for a few clubs staying active and becoming ranked in them such as the model UN and the electronic journalism club. In the model UN, Ryan was voted many times as the best delegate, best in Security Council and best in European Union by his committee also. “Ryan was a very good student, he was always on the honor roll, and I was surely impressed by his self-motivation and knowledge of politics,” said Melanie Farmer, mother of Ryan.

People thought it was weird at first, but appreciation came quick to Ryan due to his knowledge and confidence of science fiction. If you didn’t know any better, you would’ve thought Ryan to be a professional historian researching on science fiction. His sense of style allowed him to manipulate any sci-fi work from horrific and sickening into art for all eyes to glare upon.

Since he wasn’t very artistic in the sense of drawing and painting, he pursued the art of photography. In here, Ryan was able to capture all the images that were placed in his mind. It allowed him to discover art in a new shape and form. His pictures were clearly worth more than a thousand words. The fine detail of each photograph captured true beauty and abstract art.

Many say that being an only child is lonesome, but Ryan sure loves the fact that he was one. His parents treated him like he was a prince giving him their full attention. “I’m glad I didn’t have a brother or sister, it was the best thing that has ever happened to me,” stated Ryan.

He has enjoyed his life since the very beginning, with plenty of mishaps and mistakes but, ultimately, with no regrets. Wanting to live up to the reputation of the Braun family, Ryan has wanted to be an engineer since the toddler ages. His grandfather and father were both engineers and now Ryan has stepped up to the plate for the first time to give it a swing.

Virginia Tech was the perfect place for Ryan to start his career in engineering. He knew from the start that he didn’t want to stay on the West Coast because he has been there all of his life. No one is proud to be called a “townie” and never have left their town all their life. The east side was something different and unique away from all of the west side drama. Ryan knew from the start that Virginia Tech was the best engineering school there was to offer.

Now majoring in engineering for the school of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Ryan only looks into the future. He made a name for himself in his hometown, and he plans on doing the same in college. He didn’t mean just in the school of engineering either. Ryan made it clear that he “wanted to make it big and become well-known publicly.”

One day, Ryan wants to be an aerospace engineering, modeling and creating spacecraft and launching them into space. He wants to be filthy rich doing what he loves to do most. Of course Ryan’s involvement in aerospace deals with the fact that he also believes in other life forms on other planets as well. “The universe would be ridiculously boring if there weren’t any other living species out there,” stated directly from Ryan.

Of course, Ryan has dedication to his work, but he doesn’t want the work to brainwash him into a workaholic never letting him enjoy the simple things in life. That is what Ryan Faulkner Braun truly cares about and loves in life. He loves the mysteries of how things can seem so simple and complex at the same time and vice versa.

After retirement, Ryan wants to teach, but he isn’t sure what he wants to teach. Most likely it will have something to do with his profession, if not, it would possibly be photography. Aerospace engineering would work well for him as a college professor and photography would probably be a high school teacher.

Photography will still be a major hobby in his life, carrying a camera where ever he goes. Traveling the world would be a great thing to do when you have plenty of time on your hands. “I know definitely that I want to move to China and work for the space program there, if the U.S. program isn’t up to my level of standards,” exclaimed Mr. Braun himself.

In his mind, dreams do come true and fantasy comes to reality. People think of these dreams as impossible and never happening, but for Ryan Braun, it’s just another challenge and a small stepping stone in your path. After living a fulfilled life, Ryan will precisely know the perfect ingredients for the best hot chocolate not even money can buy.
